In January 2025, Delvon Rice — a single father of two young boys — set out on a journey to change his family’s future. He enrolled in EOAC’s EmpowerU program, determined to earn his Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and create the kind of stability that had always felt out of reach.
Delvon wasn’t starting from scratch. He had spent time around trucking thanks to his brother’s business and knew this was a career where he could grow. But formal training, licensing, and certifications are expensive — and balancing those costs with family needs is nearly impossible without support.

He committed to his CDL training, passed his exams in March, and quickly secured a job with a local trucking company. Not one to stop there, he went on to earn his Hazmat certification and Tankers endorsement, opening doors to higher-paying opportunities.
