EOAC’s Board of Directors continues to grow, and this newest addition comes with a particularly meaningful connection to our mission.

We are proud to welcome Jonathan Olvera to the EOAC Board of Directors. Jonathan will serve as a Public Sector representative within EOAC’s tripartite board structure. He is an elected member of the Lacy Lakeview City Council and currently serves as Mayor Pro Tem. Lacy Lakeview

But as Jonathan was sworn in at last night’s Board meeting, he shared something that made the moment even more special:

Jonathan was a Head Start kid.

He described joining the EOAC Board as a “full circle” moment, recognizing how rare it is to have the opportunity to return and serve an organization that had an impact on your life at such an early age.

For those of us in the room, it was more than an introduction to a new Board member. It was a reminder of why this work matters.

Head Start is designed to help children build a strong foundation during some of the most important years of their development. The impact of that opportunity is not always something we can measure immediately. Sometimes, we get the privilege of seeing it years later.

In Jonathan’s case, that child who once participated in Head Start grew up to become a business professional, community leader, elected official, and now a member of the Board helping guide the organization forward.

That is a pretty remarkable circle.

EOAC’s tripartite Board intentionally brings together representatives from the public sector, private sector, and the individuals and families Community Action exists to serve. Jonathan’s public service experience will add another important perspective to that structure, while his personal connection to Head Start brings something uniquely meaningful to the table.

We are thankful for people like Jonathan who choose to serve, give back, and share their stories.

And we are excited to welcome him back to EOAC in a whole new way.

From Head Start child to EOAC Board member.

That is a full circle moment worth celebrating.

Welcome to the Board, Jonathan!
